Always N Forever

Song of the Week 17
Always N Forever
The Orwells

Me and a few friends are seeing the up-and-coming Orwells in Bristol tomorrow, so to prepare myself mentally I've been listening to them constantly for the last week. The whole of the album Disgraceland has an amazing high school nostalgia feel about it which makes me want to travel both in time and in distance to Chicago, Illinois and take the small-town American way of life. Enjoy!

Becoming Bowie

As you may be able to tell by now I am an avid fan of David Bowie. Possibly the androgynous avant garde style he expressed through the character Ziggy Stardust or the variety of different styles and music genres he has performed have made it so.

Anyway, I was informed of a fancy dress day for Children In Need a few weeks ago and, being a sixth former, I left it (slightly) to the last minute. The hardest part was choosing what to go as! In the end I settled for Bowie as the make up is somewhat fun to do and easily recognisable and impressive. I was not quite prepared for the effect that being dressed in a leotard with garish colours smeared across my face would have on me. To cut a long story short, I spent the day relishing in my newly found element and feeling like an ever powerful space invader.

Upside Down Disco

Song of the Week 16
Upside Down
Diana Ross

I found this on an amazing disco playlist on Rookie a while ago and it was the song that stuck out the most (they are all amazing though of course!) I love working to this song because it gets me right into the mood. I hope this tune gets you through the mid-week and into the weekend ready for you to get upside down and funky.

POP! - Inspiration

I bought the Autumn/Winter 2014 edition of Pop magazine at the end of the summer, and I was amazed by the amount of good content - and the size of it! I thought I'd put together my favourite images from this issue, to get the inspiration flowing. I especially love the shoot of the second image due to the soft retro style which give me a warm feeling inside. The pairing of the cacti and bold print in the spread above is wonderful as well, as I would not think to put those two together, yet it works so perfectly.

Included in this issue are free Grimes inspired stickers which gave me almost too much excitement! Together with the beautiful shoot of Grimes herself, it really put me in a let's-get-vibey mood and put this magazine very high up in the world of fashion magazines for me.

I hope you find inspiration from these pictures too!

Taste Of Submarine

Song of the Week 15
Stuck On The Puzzle
Alex Turner

This song is part of the soundtrack for the wonderful film Submarine, written and performed by Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys. The whole album is a masterpiece and choosing my favourite was a task, yet I had to go for Stuck On The Puzzle because of the relaxed and nostalgic vibes which perfectly match how I have been feeling this week. It's also perfect to work to which is a bonus!

Insta Summary - Oct 2014

My Instagram has been fairly barren lately due to insane work deadlines and the fluctuation of social happenstance. To get myself back into the swing of things insta-style I thought I would start doing a monthly post on my fave pics of the month.

1- My friends Alice, Sophia and I ready for our sixth form icebreaker.
2- With festival season finally at a close, I reminisced my lasting wristbands.
3- Borrowed vans sneakers.
4- Feeling sassy in cat costumes for a Halloween party.

Hope you liked this post! You can also check my instagram here and watch this space for more!
